Recognizing the biggest names in edtech
Our journey started at the kitchen table of a mom whose son was struggling with handwriting. Jan Olsen, an occupational therapist, developed a revolutionary new approach to handwriting that has helped millions of students.
Since then, we’ve grown from one passionate entrepreneur to a team of hundreds. That innovation continues through our work today. After more than 40 years, we remain a family-owned education company dedicated to our mission—to help students build foundational skills with confidence, leading to lifelong success.
“Since its inception, Learning Without Tears has been an innovator, and we are proud that we continue to set the trend of more effective learning solutions technology,” explained Learning Without Tears CEO Terry Nealon. “The most important recognition, of course, is that of teachers and students, when they see effective learning and skills development with both Get Set for School®, and Phonics, Reading, and Me™. We are all proud of the innovative work our development teams did to create – and continuously improve - these breakthrough learning programs.”
The EdTech Awards, sponsored by EdTech Digest, features the industry’s best and brightest. The annual program shines a spotlight on cool tools, inspiring leaders, and innovative trendsetters.
Get Set for School is a complete Pre-K program that combines play with multisensory tools to create a developmentally appropriate learning experience. Its digital apps, which can be used along with print and manipulatives, provide a scaffolded approach to early learning. In addition, its digital Pre-K Interactive Teaching Tool helps teachers deploy assessments and track student progress throughout the year in all subject areas, within one solution!
Phonics, Reading, and Me, formulated on the Science of Reading, teaches targeted, high-utility skills to students in Grades K-3. It includes 350 decodable texts; 70 print and 280 digital. The program also includes an oral reading screener, powered by SoapBox – a finalist in the 2023 EdTech Awards Artificial Intelligence category. The tool helps gauge oral reading fluency – individualizing each student’s reading pathway.
